The man found dead in South Rivers, Tuesday night, had gunshot injuries, and not a slashed throat, as previously reported.
The dead man has been identified as Quentin Harvey Hackshaw, of South Rivers.
Police who responded to the report met Hackshaw, lying in the road leading to Byrea with what appeared to be multiple gunshot injuries to his back.
Hackshaw’s death brings to 10 the number of people killed in St. Vincent and the Grenadines this year, following a record 55 homicides in 2024, 52 of which were classified as murder.
Further, his body was found two days after the body of Kemeisha Haynes, 17, of Murray’s Village, was found over an embankment in Belmont.
An autopsy concluded that she was strangled.
Hackshaw is also the second person shot and killed in the country within a week.
On March 19, Camran “Bogie” Miller, 33, of Ottley Hall was shot and killed in the West Kingstown community, while he was sleeping under a shed along the roadside about 11:30 a.m.
Update: This article was updated to correct the spelling of the deceased man’s name.
The year of 55 deaths should be 2023
