Leader of the Opposition Godwin Friday says photos do not capture the scale of Hurricane Beryl’s impact on Union Island. He, however, said he is not deterred in his quest to become prime minister after the next general elections.

One reply on “VIDEO: Pictures don’t tell the story of devastation”

  1. Here again it must take the prime minister to work with the opposition and the people in their constituencies to get things back on track.

I also believe Friday should ask for a meeting with the prime minister to find out what steps are needed and should be quickly taken to get things working again. This is not the time for rivalry or not addressing the issues that are affecting people in the Grenadines.

This disaster, like others, must unite the ULP and NDP. This is not a Ralph thing or a Friday thing. And it isn’t an ULP thing or an NDP thing. It is an SVG disaster thing. The people in the Grenadines where most of the damage was done should and must insist that the leaders and their parties unite to address the hurricane issue.

The minister of tourism should be talking to the people in the Grenadines instead of trying to talk to folks in the diaspora. We have seen the disaster on videos and hear of the needs many people have expressed. Many other nations are already ending aid to the people. They are not trying to get on radio or TV to impress an audience. It will take more than talk to put the lives of the people back on track.
