Taiwan has donated 100 metric tonnes of rice to assist St. Vincent and the Grenadines (SVG) following the impact of Hurricane Beryl on July 1.
Taiwan Ambassador to SVG Fiona Huei-Chun Fan handed over five containers of rice to Minister of Agriculture Saboto Caesar, at Campden Park Container Port on Monday as a sign of support and togetherness, a press release said.
She said a strong relationship between Taiwan and SVG has been built on mutual respect, shared values, and a commitment to support each other in times of need.
The ambassador said the contribution is part of Taiwan’s ongoing effort for Hurricane Beryl relief, adding that she hoped that the rice would not only help meet immediate needs but also reinforce the resilience of local communities during this difficult time.
Meanwhile, Caesar thanked Taiwan for its generous humanitarian assistance, saying that the rice will be distributed to the people in need through the Ministry of National Mobilisation and the Ministry of Agriculture.
“Taiwan will steadfastly fulfil its responsibility as a force for good in the international community, continuously deliver staunch support to SVG, and safeguard the value of human rights,” the release said.
Peanuts, how many tourist come from Taiwan to SVG.
