St. Vincent Brewery Limited (SVBL) is supporting its employees who reported property damage as a result of the passage of Hurricane Beryl which left a trail of damage and destruction across St. Vincent and the Grenadines on July 1.
“Recognising the challenges faced by those whose homes were affected through loss or damage to their roof or through flooding, SVBL has extended financial assistance to six of its employees to help them begin the process of rebuilding and recovery,” the company said in a press release.
“We are deeply committed to supporting our community and our employees at this challenging time,” said Kimon Baptiste, public relations and media analyst at SVBL.
“In an effort to assist those persons in Union Island and Bequia after the Hurricane, our company was quick to procure and dispatch two fishing boats packed with food supplies and water to aid in the immediate recovery effort,” Baptiste said.
“A further donation of beverages was also made through The St. Vincent Rotary Club in their larger-scale efforts. At the brewery, we recognise that our employees are the heart of our business, and we wanted to ensure their well-being during this challenging time”.
Under this aid effort, the brewery engaged a contractor to assess the damage at each home and based on the professional assessment, offered the impacted employees a maximum of US$2,000 each to assist with immediate repairs.
“We are very grateful to the company for this assistance,” indicated one staffer. “My roof was damaged in Beryl. This gift helps us start our repair process so that we are better prepared in the future”.
Country Manager Shafia London said the financial assistance provided by St. Vincent Brewery is in solidarity with the local community and is part of the company’s ongoing commitment to corporate social responsibility.
“We hope that our contributions will provide some relief as they work towards restoring some sense of normalcy to their lives. St. Vincent Brewery is part of our community, and we firmly believe that by standing together, we can overcome adversity and emerge stronger,” London said.
