Protest

To all citizens and residents of St. Vincent and the Grenades, the time is ripe for mass protest in our beautiful country. The moral, spiritual and economic energies of our people have been broken by a bunch of leaders dedicated to destroying the humanity of our people. Since the general elections of 1998, our country has been engaged in non-stop campaigning; campaigning to stay in public office, to reprogramme the mindset of our youths, discrediting the successes of past nation builders and on and they go.

They have created a system that says they alone should have and we must beg them. After winning seven of the 15 parliamentary seats and gaining the popular vote in 1998, the current party in government went on a rampage for three years, disrupting the daily business of governance.

Their leaders went on to make a blasphemous proclamation that if they weren’t allowed to run the country because they had the popular vote, they would “make the country ungovernable”. Are we at a point of ungovernability in this country?  The last four years may suggest such.

The auditor general report of 2021 that outlined the information on how the government finances the county’s programmes quarterly and yearly for its budgetary obligations is frightening. The daily reports of homicides and criminality must not make us numb to reality. The cries of unemployment and under-employment have taken a toll on leaders who know that more can be done to improve the daily existence of our people.

This situation has led to a good percentage of the social disorders we have witnessed over the past 10 years. I’m speaking here about crimes like burglary, misappropriation of funds by public servants, homelessness, child neglect and abandonment, drug addiction, etc.

The agricultural sector is in shambles without real leadership and direction. We are now importing fish, an important protein source. A project like the Ottley Hall Marina and Shipyard which has the potential to create scores of jobs directly and indirectly was left to rot because of pure spite. The social security of our people is going over a cliff with many, if not all, of these governmental departments lacking financing, professional personnel and leadership.

Many tourism sites are dilapidated, especially the roads leading to these sites. Yet we are being told that tourism is the future. Our security personnel are striving under pressure circumstances. Performing their duties without many basic tools. Farmers are left to the mercy of the “traffickers”, dishonest middlemen and a very limited regional and international market. The policy of the government is tax, tax and more tax on the people. Their failure to create substantial and sustainable income-generating projects seems not to be a vision of this government.

The public and private sectors, the churches and all non-governmental organisations are feeling the devastating effects of the policies and actions brought to bear by this government. For how longer are we going to stay silent, waiting and praying to an unseen god to intervene on our behalf? Some say that we have protest fatigue but I say the time is right for mass protest action in the land. We need a reset for the entire country. A spiritual reset is of absolute importance if we are to reverse the cycle of corruption, poverty, spite, envy, hatred and malice.

We need to move away from the narrative that the parliamentary opposition needs to do something to take us out of this situation. All of us who oppose the way this government is running the country are the opposition. Remember CONSCIOUSNESS is the only REALITY, everything else is commentary.

It’s time for our actions to do the talking. This is the time for protest.

Give thanks.

directly to ralph himself ). WE ARE NOW IMPORTING FISH, an important protein source. ”
To those whose business is to say that people are being negative , is the above true or not ?, I mean is it verifiable facts ??

While i do recognize the thin line that this publication must walk by publishing peoples comments in a country with an owner ( ask Dougie ) it is also a publish fact that fisher folks on the leeward side were told that they can no longer land fish a mile further up from a newly opened hotel because the people at the hotel was smelling the fish , so they could no longer catch fish we must now import ,most likely from their country too , and yes the three magic men with their untouchable boxes who were arrested in kenya are coming next year along with their second boss madoro with all the dead people to put them back in office again because they are the owners of svg

  3. Come on, give me a break! Are you serious about importing fish? So where is the fish coming from? Please don’t make statements unless you have the facts to prove tour point.
I saw an article that had Huggins looking at two real bread-winners for the Central Leeward constituency. I hope the Buccament voters will realize what effect the banning of fishing in the area can and will have on their lives.
Huggins has lots of things to do organizing the people in the constituency.
