Edwin D. Layne & Sons donated EC$20,000 more to the National Emergency Management Organisation (NEMO) on Monday, to help support the 572 displaced persons being housed in public and informal (unlisted) shelters, following the impact of Hurricane Beryl on July 1.

Raphael Barbour, sales and marketing executive at Edwin D. Layne & Sons, presented the EC$20,000 cheque to Michelle Forbes, director of NEMO.

The presentation was witnessed by Kenson Stoddard, deputy director of NEMO, and other members of the National Emergency Operations Centre located at the NEMO headquarters at Old Montrose.

Forbes welcomed the donation from the privately-owned Vincentian company, saying it will help to procure of supplies and other ongoing operational costs associated with managing emergency shelters throughout the country.

Meanwhile, Barbour described the donation as an indication of the good corporate social responsibility the company has displayed over the years, through similar contributions in support of disaster response and recovery efforts coordinated by NEMO.

  1. We wish to say a hearty thank you to the management and staff of ” Laynes” a Vincentian owned establishment servicing us for many years and putting much of their profits back into the economy and people of the land even after loosing one of their founding members not so long ago ,Christmas is coming their staff could have had extra in their pay packet but as a vincy own business and caring for the plight of the people they chose to give in a purposeful manner unlike many other mostly hotel chains using their cheaply paid staff as free advertising material before leaving with the profits made for far off lands
