Police have launched a homicide investigation after the bodies of two men were found in the Petit Bordel Mountains on Thursday.

The deaths bring to four the number of homicides in the North Leeward village since Sept. 27 and take the national count to 41.

The identities of the two deceased adult males have not been confirmed, a police source told iWitness News, adding that a third person was being treated in hospital for injuries.

iWitness News was reliably informed that police responded sometime after 5 a.m. to reports of an attack on the men in the mountains.

When they got there, they found two unresponsive men and another in need of medical attention.

On Sept. 27, Stanran Stapleton aka Standpide, 29, was shot and killed, 20 years after his father was killed in the village.

Then, on Sept. 29, Othnell Lavia, aka Curtell, a 37-year-old farmer, died after being shot in Petit Bordel sometime around 2 a.m.

Iran Stapleton, a Petit Bordel man living in Redemption Sharpes, has been charged with murder in connection with Lavia’s death.

SVG recorded a record 55 homicides in 2023, which replaced the record of 42, set in 2022.
