Another of the men who unknown assailants shot in Paul’s Avenue on Saturday morning has died, bringing the death toll to three.

The death of the man at the Intensive Care Unit of the Milton Cato Memorial Hospital sometime after 11 p.m. Saturday makes the shooting incident the deadliest in the country this year.

It also takes the homicide count to 47, eight less than last year’s record-breaking 55.

iWitness News has been unable to ascertain the name of the latest victim who goes by the alias Red Ants.

On Saturday, one source identified the two men who died as Laurence Warren aka Bolo, a 56-year-old pushcart operator of Paul’s Avenue, and Don Ashton.

However, in a press release later on Saturday, police identified one of the victims as Warren and said efforts were ongoing to determine the identity of the second deceased man.

The release said that at approximately 3:30 a.m., officers responded to reports of multiple gunshots in Paul’s Avenue.

“Upon arrival, they discovered four males who sustained gunshot wounds,” police said, adding that two of the men died at the scene while the other two were transported to the Milton Cato Memorial Hospital for medical treatment.

The killing is the second mass shooting in Paul’s Avenue this year.

On July 19, six people were shot and injured there, one year after a mass shooting claimed five lives, including that of Paul’s Avenue resident Lamont Hector aka Dutchie, towards the eastern end of the city.

Hector’s brother, Sanga Fraser was shot and killed in Paul’s Avenue on Sept. 13.

This is the second weekend in November in which triple homicides have been recorded in St. Vincent and the Grenadines.

Three people were also shot and killed in separate incidents on the weekend of Nov. 15-17.

  1. I was of tender age when the phrase “UNGOVERNABLE” was use as a ploy to gain power, but now I wish to bring it to the attention off all vincentians, that we have arrived at that very state in which he wanted. An UNGOVERNABLE country were the words use by the pm and at this point he has to live with it. Be careful what you say little mouth, be careful what you do little hands.

  2. No word from the absentee minister of national security. He visits SVG regurlaly. His legacy will be the most travelled head of government in the world.

  4. This is ridiculous and today the so call show issues at hand program didn’t find it fit to ask the PM nothing concerning the state of the violence stalking the country. Bunch of time wasters. PM gets so use to killings that it’s not alarming enough to even do an address, given he was on air for approximately 2hrs..

  5. Is de country still ungovernable ? do we still blame toussaint and Mitchelle? Is de devil in control of every square inch ??
