Two men, both of whom are said to have a history of drug abuse or mental illness, were shot and killed in Paul’s Avenue around 4 a.m. Saturday.
Two other men survived their gunshot injuries and were being treated in hospital for injuries as the homicide count in St. Vincent and the Grenadines rose to 46.
The dead men have been identified as Lawrence Warren and Don Ashton.
They died at the Milton Cato Memorial Hospital while being treated for their injuries.
iWitness News has been unable to ascertain the identity of the injured men whose injuries are said to be “non-life threatening”.
The killing is the second mass shooting in Paul’s Avenue this year.
On July 19, six people were shot and injured there, one year after a mass shooting claimed five lives, including that of Paul’s Avenue resident Lamont Hector aka Dutchie, towards the eastern end of the city.
Hector’s brother, Sanga Fraser was shot and killed in Paul’s Avenue on Sept. 13.
The deaths on Saturday mark yet another bloody weekend in St. Vincent and the Grenadines, following three deaths in three days on the weekend of Nov. 15-17 that took the homicide count to 44.
SVG recorded a record-setting 55 homicides, including 52 murders, in 2023, following 42 homicides, another record, in 2022.
So all you still want the Gonsalves regime in power. Little SVG is giving the big USA a run for their money. There is no end nor improvement on the horizon. How does six in a row feel now?
