SVG’s young squash talents delivered commendable performances at the regional Barbados Junior Open Squash Championships in Barbados on the weekend.
The competition saw 42 participants from Barbados, Guyana, Trinidad and St. Vincent and the Grenadines.

Aiden DeFreitas secured second place in Boys Under 15 and Under 17 categories.
In the boys under 15, DeFreitas defeated Matteo Felician — 7-11, 5-11, 12-10, 8-11, Ethan Bulkan — 11-7, 8-11, 4-11, 2-11 and lost to Daniel Sealy — 11-5, 11-2, 11-2
In the boys under 17, he defeated Ahzari Weekes — 11-0, 11-4, 11-8, Kai Shepherd — 12-10, 2-11, 11-9, 11-9 and lost to Sealy
Savanté Padmore dominated the Boys Under 11 category to claim first place
He defeated Thierry Padmore — 11-3, 11-4, 11-2, Carter Farmer — 11-2, 11-1, 11-0 and Elian Hamati — 11-2, 11-8, 11-6 to win the boys under 11 category.
He also competed in the Boys Under 13, finishing fourth.
Savanté Padmore Rashae Briggs — 3-11, 0-11, 1-11 and Ethan Cyrus, lost to Finn Graham 11-3, 11-4, 11-2 and Ethan Cyrus — 11-7, 8-11, 11-3, 7-11, 11-8
Nadira Morgan put up a strong fight to secure second after losing to Eboni Atherley — 11-6, 11-0, 11-4 in the finals.
Ethan Webster and De’ron Lewis finished sixth in Boys Under 13 and seventh in Boys Under 17.
“The SVG squash team continues to build a strong reputation in regional squash, and their achievements in this tournament reflect their growing potential,” a press release said.
