Detectives in St. Vincent and the Grenadines are said to be preparing to review video tapes from an entertainment venue in Kingstown as they continue their investigation into the shooting death of a Canada-based Vincentian contractor Saturday morning.
This as a woman has been taken into custody in connection with the death of the man, Glenroy Fraser, 38, of Questelles and Canada.
Fraser’s body was found in a car over an embankment in the West St. George community around 1:30 a.m. on Saturday.
The Police Public Relations and Complaints Department said police were informed at approximately 1:30 a.m., on Saturday that a vehicle had been spotted over an embankment in Kelbourney.
The officers who responded found Fraser’s body inside the vehicle, with its hands and feet bound and an injury to the head, the police statement said.
However, one person who saw the body told iWitness News that its mouth was covered with tape, the hands tied behind the back with “strongman” rope, and the feet tightly bound.
Residents of Kelbourney are said to have been alerted to the incident after hearing a gunshot followed by the sound of a vehicle going over the embankment.
Fraser’s death is recorded as the 54th homicide this year in St. Vincent and the Grenadines, which has recorded one homicide less than the record of 55 last year.
iWitness News understands that police have been able to verify that Fraser was at an event in Kingstown in the hours before his death.
Investigators are said to be preparing to review surveillance footage from the area to try to determine how he left the event and if he did so alone.
It is clear that all homicides in SVG do not merit the same attention. They are not on equal footing. We are fragile. There must be a special hook in the gills of the authorities with this one. It could be baffling to understand how law enforcement and the authorities decide when to press and when to ease. But then again, we worship dutifully at the altar of our perceptions that are seasoned and led by social media marketing. We have taken great pains to install a ring in our national nose: a ring by which we accept to get dragged and pulled.
I do hope that our CID employs forensic science in this investigation as there must be a lot of evidence in this vehicle.
Chances are that the crime will never be solved. There are not enough cameras installed along the main roads to tract the movement of vehicles. If there were adequate CTV cameras that record real time records, then one could have been provided with real time data. Even the business establishment cameras I stalled may not be positioned to give critical information.
In this 21st century it’s a shame that SVG is so far behind and much crime that is going on CCTV needs to be installed everywhere, there is no CSI investigators so how is vital information collected? Guess we’ll have to wait and see if this murder is solved
