Delta Airlines will begin flying to St. Vincent and the Grenadines in December, Minister of Tourism Carlos James announced on Friday, in a break from government policy of allowing airlines to make these announcements.

“I am happy to announce this morning, formally, that St. Vincent and the Grenadines will now see new nonstop flights connecting our vibrant, multi-island state to Atlanta, Georgia, thanks to Delta Airlines,” James said in Kingstown.

He was announcing the name of the airlines but Prime Minister Ralph Gonsalves had said weeks earlier that a major US airline would soon announce flights to SVG’s Argyle International Airport.

James said that Delta will begin the daily service on Dec. 20, adding, “… visitors will have convenient daily access aboard Delta’s state-of-the-art, Boeing 737, offering a seamless and comfortable journey to world-class attractions, thriving business community and stunning landscapes here in St. Vincent and the Grenadines.

“I am indeed pleased to announce this here, following a record-breaking year in stay-over arrivals to the destination, we are delighted to welcome Delta Airlines to St. Vincent and the Grenadines, and particularly to Argyle International Airport, and this strategic partnership will strengthen connection and connectivity between the destination, St. Vincent and the Grenadines and one of our major source markets, the United States.”

James said his ministry continued to make SVG more accessible to visitors “by leveraging these strategic partnerships within the tourism sector”.

He said the flight will arrive at AIA between 2 and 3 p.m., adding that booking would open on Delta’s platform in the coming day.

“…  we are hoping we can attract more visitors to the destination, and have a lot more people come in to discover, enjoy and indulge in what St. Vincent and the Grenadines has to offer.”

Anything to prop up oney! However truth be told that this will not help. The government in its destruction of the SVG economy has negatively affect every candidate in the upcoming elections. The people are fed. Ralph go home! TIme is up!
