St. Vincent and the Grenadines can expect isolated showers on the weekend, with showers expected to increase on Sunday.
In a 72-hour weather outlook, the SVG Met Service said that an increase in showers is expected on Sunday as a moisture surge crosses the islands, and thunderstorm activity is possible by evening into the night.
“Residents and motorists in areas prone to flash-flooding and landslides or near rivers and streams should be alert,” Meteorological Forecaster Joan Mc Donald said in the bulletin.
She said patches of Saharan dust could create a film or slight haze across the country at times.
Moderate to fresh (2 – 35km/h) breeze across the islands could peak near 40km/h at night, and wind directions vary from northeast to east in some locations.
Sea conditions are slight to moderate in open water, with swells near 1 m (3ft) west of the country and 2 (6.5 ft) east of the islands, Mc Donald said.
Swell heights are expected to rise, nearing 1.5m (5ft) west of the islands and 2.5m (8ft) east of our islands by Sunday.
Small-craft operators and sea bathers should exercise caution for rising swells (above normal) and occasional gusty winds, especially during nighttime.
