One man was taken to the hospital with gunshot injuries to the head and back, while two others are said to be missing at sea after an attack off North Windward on Sunday.
The injured man is Hollis Young aka Pargy, who was in February fined EC$16,000 on cocaine charges.
iWitness News has obtained videos of Young being attended to by police at the Owia Wharf before being transported to hospital.
Scores of people gathered at the wharf after reports began circulating about the shooting incident, which occurred in the sea between Point and Owia on St. Vincent’s northeast coast.
Some people blamed Young for what had occurred at sea that day, even as others cried over the loved ones who were missing at sea.
Initially, reports are that a boat from a neighbouring country opened fire on the boat in which the Vincentians were travelling, allegedly after an interaction between the two vessels.
Police are said to have mobilised a multi-unit squad, including the SVG Coast Guard in response to the incident.
Young also made headlines in 2023, then using the name “Jamal Young”, when he carried 12 grams of cocaine with him after being summoned to the Owia Police Station.
More recently, on Feb. 17, he appeared before the Serious Offences Court in Kingstown and pleaded guilty to charges that on Feb. 6, at Kingstown, he had in his possession 5,539 grams of cocaine with intent to supply, and that he had the drug for the purpose of drug trafficking.
During the sentencing hearing, Young told Chief Magistrate Colin John that he works with another fisherman who owns a seine and is paid between EC$1,000 and EC$2,000 a week, depending on whether they sell fish to trawlers.
The court ordered Young to pay a fine of EC$6,000 for possession of the drug and EC$10,000 for possession for drug trafficking.
How is that he was only given a fine for having over 12lbs of cocaine in his position. Man made jail for smaller quantities of weed. These sentencing are all over the place

I strongly agree with Vin. Sentencing has guidelines but it seems like those who are administering these sentencings don’t have any guidelines whatsoever. This guy just keeps digging a hole to fill a hole. I pray he doesn’t dig a six feet hole soon.
