The man who was seen in a viral video last week in a tussle with police outside Coreas City Store in Kingstown has been charged with wounding, using indecent language in public and assaulting police officers.
David Bailey, 26, of Roseau, allegedly made certain remarks while in the area where police officers had stopped an omnibus.
Following the remarks, he was accosted by law officers and a tussle ensued.
Videos that captured the scenes of the physical confrontation went viral on social media on the weekend.
Bailey is due to reappear in court on Sept. 9, in connection with that:

- on Aug. 23, in Kingstown in a public place, he made use of indecent language to police officer Michael Da Silva to wit: “Alyo mother c**t police feel alyo could do what alyo want”;
- on Aug. 23, he assaulted Michael Da Silva, he being a police officer acting in the lawful execution of his duties;
- on Aug. 23, in Kingstown, he unlawfully and maliciously wounded police officer Michael Da Silva; and,
- on the said date, in Kingstown, he resisted the arrest of Michael Da Silva, he being a police officer acting in the lawful execution of his duties.
Bailey pleaded not guilty to the charges when he appeared before the Serious Offences Court on Monday.
He also pleaded not guilty to charges that:
- on Aug. 23, in Kingstown, he unlawfully and maliciously wounded police officer Colville Frederick of Biabou; and,
- on the same date in Kingstown, he assaulted Colville Frederick of Biabou, he being a police officer acting in the lawful execution of his duties.
Chief Magistrate Colin John adjourned the matters to Sept. 9, and transferred them to the Kingstown Magistrate Court, informing the defendant that his station bail would continue, as per conditions set by the police.
