The police officer who is accused of attempting to murder his ex-girlfriend by stabbing her multiple times has been denied bail but will return to court on Tuesday for bail review.
Kyle Nimblet, 22, of Byera, appeared before Senior Magistrate Tammika McKenzie at the Kingstown Magistrate on Tuesday in connection with the charges.
He was not allowed to plead to indictable charges that on Sept. 6, at Villa, he:
- with intent to commit the offence of murder on Rafia Sardine, of Villa, did an act which was more than preparatory to the commission of the offence;
- entered the dwelling house of Alicia Sardine, of Villa, as a trespasser and at the time had with him a weapon of offence to wit a knife; and,
- without lawful excuse, damaged one 3×2 ft aluminium sliding window valued at EC$400, the property of Alicia Sardine, of Villa, intending to damage such property.
The prosecution is alleging that Nimblett attempted to murder Sardine, a 20-year-old sales representative, by stabbing her repeatedly at her home in Villa.
Prosecutor Crown Counsel Maria Jackson-Richards objected to bail, saying the offences committed were serious and Nimblet was likely to interfere with the investigation.
She told the court the prosecution would need about a week to contact witnesses.
Jackson-Richards told the court that Sardine was discharged from the Milton Cato Memorial Hospital on Monday.
However, Nimblet’s lawyer Grant Connell argued that the police were on a fishing expedition.
He told the court that he had received two documents from the commissioner, with one stating that his client was suspended from work without pay, while the other said he had been suspended on half pay.
Connell said his client was still a police officer and a Vincentian and should be granted bail, with adequate surety or any condition set by the court.
The lawyer also suggested a curfew.
However, the magistrate ruled in favour of the prosecution and remanded Nimblet for one week.
The charges were transferred to the Serious Offences Court.
Oh yeah definitely he will try to tamper or make things happen…check is cell, emails and all messaging but hey at least let’s see if they will really do hold him
Absolutely no bail.
Anyone who does this sort of thing and worst should not get bail. If you and your spouse or girlfriend can’t get along move on. Men needs to learn to walk away instead of resorting to this kind of thing. Its a woman that brought you into this world, try and respect them. This kind of ugliness gets you no where than being lock up and ruin your life and future.
Still waiting for a comment from the women who organized the rape rally. Maybe she is not important.
Notice that most of these young thugs in the police force comes from one constituency.
Attempted murder is a felony that carries a sentence of one year to 25 years imprisonment. He should be behind bars for a long period of time. As an Officer you should know better. You were chosen to serve and protect. You are to uphold the constitution and enforce the laws. There’s no reason for you to be doing this to another individual. You did the crime, so now you can do the time.
