A Lowmans Bay fisherman is to be sentenced on Thursday after pleading guilty to possession and trafficking of 22.9 pounds of cocaine that police seized in West Kingstown on Monday.

Police did not disclose the community in the constituency where the drug was found.

Sebastian Audain aka Bush, 36, pleaded guilty to the charges when he appeared before the Family Court in Kingstown on Thursday.

Meanwhile, his co-accused, Alvin Cyrus, 36, of Largo Height, pleaded not guilty and was granted EC$30,000 to reappear before the Serious Offences Court on March 2.

Audain was remanded into custody and the matter was transferred to the Layou Magistrate Court for sentencing on Thursday.

Police said in a statement on Wednesday that the drug bust resulted from a joint operation involving the Narcotics, Rapid Response and Special Services units.

“The success of this undertaking highlights the value of specialised units moving in unison to address specific threats to our communities,” the police force said in a press statement.

“When these divisions align, they create an operational reach necessary to intercept illegal substances before they circulate further. The presence of this quantity of narcotics at a residential location underscores why coordinated efforts are essential to maintaining the stability and peace of our neighbourhoods,” the statement said.

“While events of this scale often spark conversation, the primary focus of the RSVGPF is the tangible safety of the citizens we serve. The professionalism displayed by the officers involved reflects a readiness to act on credible information with a clear objective: to protect the interests of every law-abiding citizen in St. Vincent and the Grenadines. By removing contraband and disrupting the networks behind it, the Force continues to uphold the law and maintain public order.”

The police force said it will continue to monitor and address organised drug activity with persistence.

“Protecting the public is a shared responsibility, and the outcome of this operation reflects the ongoing relationship between the police and the community. We appreciate those who provide information that allows our specialised units to operate effectively and will continue taking the necessary steps to keep our streets and borders secure.”

Police are asking people with information that may assist police to contact Police Control at 457-1211 or the Public Relations and Complaints Department 485-6891.

“All information will be treated with strict confidence,” the statement said.
