Winston Williams aka Zeke almost died in his common-law wife’s arms in a bedroom at their Diamond home after being shot Friday night, three days after he partied, celebrating his 66th birthday.

His common-law wife Cylethta Bowens told iWitness News Saturday that Williams, who is originally from Richland Park, died shortly after he was shot while in their shop just after 9 p.m. Friday.

Bowens said she was in the bedroom of the house, located behind the shop, watching a movie, when, around 9:06 p.m., Williams came in.

She said someone called him to the shop and he went back outside.

“He come back inside and he say, ‘A guy come to buy three beers — three Carib — and I give him one and I waiting until he collect his next two before I close up the shop’,” Bowens told iWitness News.

Bowens said they normally close the shop at 9 p.m. or just after.

She said she told her common-law husband, “Ok” and he went back out of the bedroom.

Bowens said that about two to three minutes later, she heard what appeared to be five gunshots and “they sound close” to her.

“So me get up and coming outside. When me coming outside, I meet him coming inside the bedroom towards me, and I could just see all the blood over him,” Bowens said.

She told iWitness News that Williams was holding the area between his left upper chest and left shoulder.

“Me say, ‘Babes, what wrong?’ … Me say, ‘Babes, what happen?’ And he just say, ‘Babes’ and that’s it. He nah say nothing else,” Bowens recalled.

Bowens said Williams “collapsed in the bedroom right side the bed”.

“He just go down. I try to raise him up, … try to sit him up, and then I realise he look lifeless,” Bowens further said.

Asked if she saw the person who came to buy the beers, Bowens said no.

Williams is the third person to have been shot and killed in the Diamond area in months, two of whom were from Richland Park.

Uriah Fields, a 42-year-old security guard and fisherman of Diamond, was found dead with gunshot wounds in the area called the “race track” late last October.

Last month, Richland Park resident Lenford Peters was found dead along the roadside in the Brighton-Diamond area.

  1. Poor journalism was he killed or almost died. Read your post again and decide for yourself if it’s misleading.

  2. Read over the story.. you misunderstood he said almost died in her arms because she try going to him and he try coming to her…but he fell to the ground by side of bed and died there.
