St. Vincent and the Grenadines is celebrating a remarkable achievement as Team SVG Robotics delivered a commanding performance at the 2025 FIRST Global Challenge, from March 16 to 20 in St. Kitts and Nevis.

Showcasing exceptional innovation, teamwork, and technical expertise, the team –composed of Rian Veira and Matthew Wilson of the St. Vincent and the Grenadines Community College, under the mentorship of Brodlon Daniel — rose above the competition in spectacular fashion.

Their efforts earned them a decisive first-place finish, outpacing competitors by an extraordinary margin.

Final Standings:

· 1st Place: St. Vincent and the Grenadines – 4,653 points

· 2nd Place: St. Maarten – 536 points

· 3rd Place: Antigua – 436 points

The competition brought together teams from eight countries for an intense three-day robotics challenge centred on the theme of land and sea pollution.

Participants were tasked with designing and programming robots capable of cleaning coastlines by collecting sargassum, recycling materials, and properly sorting debris into designated storage units.

“Team SVG Robotics’ outstanding performance not only secured victory but also highlighted the ingenuity and determination of the nation’s young talent. Their success stands as a powerful testament to what can be achieved through dedication, creativity, and strong mentorship,” a press release said.

“With continued community support and a growing reputation for excellence, Team SVG Robotics is poised to further elevate St. Vincent and the Grenadines on the global stage of robotics and technological innovation.”
