A man who allegedly failed to renew his driver’s licence on his birthday in November has been charged with vehicular manslaughter in connection with the death of a pedestrian on Tuesday.
The Royal St. Vincent and the Grenadines Police Force (RSVGPF) has charged Ardon Richards, of Level Garden and Brighton, with causing the death of Garvet Sam by reckless driving at Arnos Vale on Sept. 8.
Sam, a 56-year-old employee of Massy Stores, was walking in Arnos Vale around 5:46 a.m. on Sept. 8, when he was struck by a white Suzuki car, allegedly driven by Richards.
He sustained injuries and was transported to the Milton Cato Memorial Hospital, where he died.
Richards was also charged with failing to renew his driving permit on his birth date, Nov. 28, 2025.
He is expected to appear before the Serious Offences Court on Monday.
