An Ottley Hall man has been granted EC$20,000 bail and ordered to reappear in court on Thursday after he was allegedly found with an AR-15 rifle and 19 rounds of 5.56 mm, all of which are prohibited under the law of St. Vincent and the Grenadines.
Police said that they found Damon Mason, a 41-year-old machine operator, with the weapon and ammunition at Nine Steps, Kingstown on Thursday.
He pleaded not guilty on Friday at the Mesopotamia Magistrate’s Court to charges that he had the weapon and ammunition in his possession without the authorisation of the minister.
As part of his bail conditions, Mason was ordered to provide a surety and surrender all travel documents.
The court also ordered that stop notices be placed at all ports of entry and exit and to report to the Central Police Station twice weekly.
The case was adjourned and transferred to the Serious Offences Court for September 17.
