KINGSTOWN, St. Vincent – A local radio talk show host has said that “guerrilla war” will break out in this country if Prime Minister Dr. Ralph Gonsalves receives any of the EC$250,000 in damages a court awarded him because of slanderous comments broadcast on Nice Radio eight years ago.
The radio station was implicated in the lawsuit because of statements Eduardo “E.G.” Lynch, host of the New Democratic Party (NDP) “New Times”, made about Gonsalves and financing for members of his family on a trip to Rome.
Station manager Douglas De Freitas says his company cannot afford to pay the damages although listeners have contributed EC$29,000 to a fund.
“Well, I am using this forum tonight to send a message to Ralph Gonsalves. Ralph, I am quite emotional about this; understand me. As a matter of fact, I have told my wife this. I told her ‘make up your mind that Matthew Thomas would be imprisoned or assassinated’,” Matthew Thomas co-host of “Stay Awake” on Nice Radio said in his programme Monday night, according to a recording obtained by I-Witness News.
“You know, it comes a time when you have to do things, whether you are willing or not. … But, let me tell you this, any day you get a cent from Dougie or anybody on your behalf from the court, a guerrilla war would be started in this country,” Thomas said to Gonsalves.
“You charge me tonight; have me arrested for exciting the public. You put me in jail I will lead the guerrilla war from jail. You assassinate me, the seed would have already been sown. Take warning,” Thomas further stated.
Take it easy Matthew Thomas ralph wants to disrupt out peace and divert our attention from what is going on in SVG.

The court finds a person guilty of lying, the court awarded damages to the person against whom those lies were told. How is Dr. Gonsalves responsible for this? There is nothing wrong with speaking about things which you perceive are not in the best interest of the country, this is perfectly correct. However, there must be something wrong if you lie. Many persons say that each person has a right to speak and say what they wany because we live in a “democratic country”, but the same right also allows persons to use the courts to protect themselves from being defamed by others who show no restraint in their right to free speach.
Yes the prime minister can be thin skinned at times but he is exercising his right to sue. Its up to the judiciary to accept his claim and award damages. So if Matthew has an issue he should take it up with the courts and stop talking ignorance about starting a “monkey warefare”.
I personally have very little trust in the SVG judiciary. Sonya Young deeply worries me, I am studying her in depth right now. I left Barbados this morning to travel for nine days, but I will try and keep in touch via airport wifi’s.

Look people we must lock up some political prisoners, SVG is the only country in ALBA and also the Non Aligned community that doesn’t have political prisoners.

Cuba and Venezuela can give us some useful advice regarding political prisoners, they have been locking them up for years.

As the story points out, the government of Hugo Chávez is increasingly targeting university students who have been active in the opposition movement. They are jailed under bogus charges of destabilizing the government, or inciting civil war.
Want to be in opposition, be in opposition in prison.

The number of political prisoners in Cuba has fallen from 201 to 167 since the beginning of 2010, the unofficial Cuban Human Rights Commission says.
This is almost half the number of political prisoners compared with when Fidel Castro handed over power to his younger brother Raul four years ago.
But the commission’s head Elizardo Sanchez says the fall reflects a change in the manner of political repression.
Harassment and intimidation are now replacing long prison sentences.

Bolivia is the poorest country in South America, with around 30% of the population living on incomes of less than $1 a day.
Bolivia has hundreds of political prisoners, it also takes away citizenship from protesters against the communist system and banishes them to other countries.
See SVG is even falling behind even Bolivia, we are paying to much wages, we are failing to lock up and banish political prisoners. Come on ULP we can do better than this.
If we want to remain in ALBA we must create and lock up political prisoners.
If only we had passed the New Constitution, we could have had all this almost instantly.
When you eventually get around to arresting Mr Thomas, make sure you send hundreds of different types of police officers, Black Squad, Dummy Army Squad, Red Rat Squad, send them all with big guns.
Make sure as usual none of these officers carry any marking or numbers that will identify them, then they can be outrageous without fear of identification. Of course this is old hat, they never wear any identification.
As usual shoot any dogs that can be used as target practise.
As before in the middle street fire, grab any cameras, you don’t want any pictorial evidence when taking political prisoners.
