ST. JOHN’S, Antigua – Regional airline LIAT said Wednesday that an aircraft that was forced to return to the ramp in Grenada would undergo various checks before being returned to service.

LIAT flight LI727 was preparing to depart Grenada Wednesday afternoon with 49 passengers on board but returned to the ramp at the Maurice Bishop International Airport after warning lights illuminated in the cockpit.

“As a precautionary measure emergency services were deployed however the return to the ramp was uneventful with no injury to passengers or crew,” LIAT said in a statement.

The airline was yesterday making arrangements for the affected passengers to be accommodated on other LIAT flights.

“The aircraft is being examined by the company’s maintenance staff and will undergo the various checks as stipulated by the manufacturer’s maintenance manual before being returned to service,” LIAT said.
