A two-day workshop dubbed “Achieving Service & Business Excellence for Small Hotels” at Hotel Alexandrina in Prospect end on Wednesday.
The Organization of American States (OAS), with the support of the SVG Tourism Authority is hosting the national workshop for owners and operators of small hotels in St. Vincent and the Grenadines, geared at improving service quality.
The workshop designed to target owners/operators of small tourism enterprises –principally small hotels — as well as public officials in the tourism sector, responsible for supporting the small hotel sub-sector will be facilitated by Shirlene Nibbs of Nibbs and Associates, Antigua and Barbuda.
The sessions will focus on training standards, branding and marketing through a detailed look at the role and importance of training for small hotels as well as specific marketing strategies. It will also provide opportunities for owners and operators to access new information on service quality, the culture of hospitality, marketing, and how these elements support improving overall competitiveness.
This initiative is part of the OAS’ Sustainable Tourism Program for 2013 under the auspices of the Small Tourism Enterprise Network (STEN) Project that focuses on improving the competitiveness of small and medium sized tourism enterprises.
A closing ceremony for the workshop will be held from 3:30 p.m. at Hotel Alexandrina on Wednesday.
It will be addressed by the local OAS representative, Melene Glynn, and CEO of the SVG Tourism Authority, Glen Beache.
