The Ministry of National Security will be host an Excellence in Screening Techniques Training Course in collaboration with the Organization of American States (OAS), Inter-American Committee against Terrorism (CICTE) and the United States Transportation Security Administration (TSA) at the Foreign Affairs Conference Room Monday to Friday, commencing at 9 a.m. daily.

The five-day course will be divided into two sessions:

Session one, from Monday to Thursday for Aviation Security Officers and their supervisors; and

Session two, on Friday, caters to supervisors and managers with responsibility for the aviation security at the aerodromes within SVG serving international civil aviation.

The course is geared towards improving the knowledge and skills of aviation security personnel and the screening techniques for passengers and baggage by providing updated techniques and procedures to better address the evolving threats to civil aviation, thereby strengthening the aviation security system in SVG.

Participants will explore their existing procedures and build their skills to focus on emerging threats, using screening techniques and technology.

The course will be facilitated by Elizabeth Whelden and Erin Meads from the TSA and is coordinated locally by Aviation Office at the Maritime Administration, Augustus John.
