The St. Vincent and the Grenadines Cycling Union on Monday embarked on a six-month schools cycling programme.
The programme will be executed by Irish coach Chris Killmurray, who conducted a level 1 coaching course here in July.
The first part of this schools programme ends today — Friday. Some 10 schools have been targeted for this developmental thrust.
The schools covered in this week’s sessions were the Fairhall Government, Emmanuel High Mespo, Buccament Government and Central Leeward Secondary.
This six-month grassroots activity is sponsored by Olympic Solidarity to the tune of EC$30,000.
The amount covers accommodation, travel and meals for the coach over the three visits he will make to St. Vincent.
Also included in the cost is a quantity of bikes, the property of the cycling Union.
Relatedly, the cycling Union will once again team-up with the Nine Morning’s Committee to stage cycle race during Nine Mornings, starting next Monday, Dec. 16.
