At least four persons are reported missing in the Pembroke-Buccament Bay area as residents begin to take account of the extent of loss after torrential rains on Christmas Eve.

One woman who returned from Canada for Christmas told I-Witness News that her 2-year-old baby and 18-year-old sister were swept away by flood waters, even as she was rescued by neighbours in Cane Grove.

Another man said that his 8-year-old daughter, who was visiting her mom in Buccament Bay, was also washed away.

A female employee of the Buccament Bay Resort was also washed away as employees attempted to cross the bridge leading to the village.

IWN is unable, at this time, to confirm the recovery of two bodies in the area.

Thanks to the editors of IWN for bringing uptodate news as it’s happening that’s affecting our country. As a Vincentian living overseas, I do appreaciate this service as I don’t have to rely on calling home ever so often to find out what’s happening. Can you consider doing a slide show of news events (especially with this disaster, pictures that you may have received from around the island) so that we can have a visual of what’s happening also?

To the people of SVG, my prayers are with you, and may the Christ of Christmas bring you peace even at this time.
