Police said on Monday that they were investigating the sexual assault of a young woman in Pembroke, but said there was no such crime behind the Post Office Building in Kingstown on the weekend.

A release from the Police Public Relations Department said that reports on social media of a young female being sexually assaulted behind the post office building in Kingstown on the weekend are false.

Police, however, said they are investigating a report of sexual assault on a young female, which occurred between Campden Park and Pembroke.

Police are urging persons with information about the assault of the woman to contact the Questelles Police Station or the Criminal Investigations Department as soon as possible.

They say that information will be held in strictest confidence.

Reports reaching I-Witness News are that a teenaged girl was found half naked and unconscious in Campden Park on the weekend.
