Prime Minister Ralph Gonsalves is currently confined to his official residence, for rest and recuperation,  nursing an injury to his ankle, a government spokesperson said on Thursday.

Communication Consultant in the Office of the Prime Minister Elson Crick said doctors have advised Gonsalves to rest his ankle, and as a result of this, has been working out of his official residence since Tuesday.

“This period of rest and recuperation will extend into the week end,” Crick said.

Consequently, Gonsalves has been forced to cancel his attendance at two events abroad, the Annual Norman Manley Law School lecture in Jamaica, where he was expected to deliver the keynote address tonight, and the rally on reparations organised by the Institute of Black World, slated for Chicago on Saturday.

In respect of the Jamaica event, Gonsalves will be represented by the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Camillo Gonsalves, while Professor Sir Hilary Beckles will speak on his behalf at the Chicago event.

  1. It must be nice to have doctors come to your house and take care of you. Maybe if you went to Milton Cato for any kind of stay it would be in better shape. Walking around with body guards for safety, and getting medical treatment at home, only if other Vincentians were so lucky. They have to go to the hospital and walk with there own toilet paper, and walk on street without guards in this time of wickedness.

  2. Did Ralph know of his pending ailment when he wanted free health care for politicians? The opposition should keep this issue burning, because it shows how Ralph thought very little of the population. A basic health program would have cost the government much less, that to treat sick people later.

  3. Blaine for that to happen then all ah we have to be prime ministers of SVG. But there can only be one PM at a time. So we just have to bear our grimes, suffer the indignity of being a patient at the MCMH until the good Lord tells him that its time to quit.. I wish him a speedy recovery and an equally speed exit from the OPM.

  4. As I was reading this, that … “Dr Gonsalves was forced to cancel his attendance at two events abroad, the Annual Norman Manley Law School lecture in Jamaica, where he was expected to deliver the keynote address tonight, and the rally on reparations organised by the Institute of Black World, slated for Chicago on Saturday” … on the I Witness page, the song coming from the TV caught my attention. The lyrics of the song were “…hey children what’s that sound, everybody look what’s going down”… (Buffalo Springfield- “For what’s it Worth” http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=f5M_Ttstbgs.) I thought it was so relevant. I for one was especially looking forward to the Chicago Forum. But! the comrade was “forced to cancel his attendance”….because he hurt he ankle. If he hurt he foot he shouldah limp up there! Didn’t he limp up to ENGLAND? Look what’s going down, after all the “Hoola Boola”? http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=B86NWeSEeP0. Anyhow, as the article say’s “Professor Sir Hilary Beckles will speak on his behalf”. Comrade! Take care ah yo bad foot eh…more time still.
