A new champion will be crowned in the Dovers Electrical Services, East Kingstown Sports Association Softball Cricket Competition as defending champion Attackers 1 were knock out at the quarterfinal stage last weekend at the Grammar School Playing Field.

In the first quarterfinal match on Saturday, Banks of SVG All Stars had an easy 8-wicket win over Alcoholix.

Batting first, Alcoholix were restricted to 78 all out off 13.5 overs. Kurthbert Springer top scored with 28. The trio of Recardo Thomas 4 for 21, Brenton Arrindell 3 for 10 and Dennis Grant 2 for 9 were the most successful bowlers for Bank of SVG All Stars.

In reply, Bank of SVG All Stars reached their target of 81 for 2 wickets off 16.5 overs. Nyron De- Souza top scored with 31. Kenneth Lewis took 2 for 12, bowling for Alcoholix.

In another quarterfinal match on Saturday, General Hardware Richmond Hill United had a 2-wicket win over C.K. Greaves Stars. Batting first, C.K. Greaves reached 116 for 4 off 20 overs. Ozico Williams slammed 39 not out, Kesron O’Brien made 23. In reply, General Hardware Richmond Hill United reached their victory target of 117 for 8 off 16 overs. Rohan Ash stroke 44. Ozico Williams, putting in an all-round performance, took 2 for 21, and Jevorn Williams, 2 for 29, bowling for C.K. Greaves Stars.

In the matches on Sunday, Buccament Bay had a 5-wicket win over Dr. Thomas Injectors. Dr. Thomas Injectors, batting first, was dismissed for 98 off 19.3 overs. The trio of Rawl Stapleton grabbed 3 for 22, Kelroy Warren, 2 for 11, and Romello Browne, 2 for 21, were the most successful bowlers for Buccament Bay.

In reply, Buccament Bay reached their target of 99 for 5 off 17.3 overs. Rawl Stapleton, putting in an all-round performance, slammed 38 not out.

In the last quarterfinal match, Just for the fun got the better of defending champion Attackers 1 by 4-wickets.

Attackers 1, batting first, were restricted to 71 all out off 18.3 overs. Dean Farrell made 18. Marcus Hacksaw bagged 4 for 15 and Jevorn Nero 3 for 4, bowling for Just for the fun. In reply, Just for the fun reached their victory target of 75 for 6 off 17.3 overs. Okeiph Andrews top scored with 29 not out. Benson Hacksaw, 2 for 3, and Kentish Phillips 2 for 11 were the main wickets takers for Attackers 1.

Kurthburt Springer of Alcoholix had the most runs –105 runs, while Jevorn Williams of C.K. Greaves Stars is the leading wicket taker — 17 wickets.
