Social activism group Rise Up Bequia will host what it has billed as an exciting talent expo on Feb. 28 at Clive Tannis Playing Field in Bequia.
The aim is to showcase the talent of Bequian artistes in a variety of disciplines and provide an outlet for local talented youth to become involved in community-building, the group said.
Admission cost is EC$20 for adults and EC$10 for children younger than 12 years old.
The show begins at 8 p.m.
Rise up Bequia provided substantial support to the local Red Cross in the aftermath of the December 2013 floods and last year provided support to 140 school children affected by the floods.
The group has painted and cleaned the Bequia Library and provided gift vouchers valued EC$100 each to 33 children affected by the December 2013 floods.
“With the support of the general public, Rise Up Bequia can continue its outreach,” the group said.
Rise Up Bequia is an independent not-for-profit activist initiative working for the public interest of residents of Bequia.
The group focuses on building and strengthening core ideas and practices of sustainable community development, education, and outreach.
“Rise Up Bequia’s mandate and successful mission will demonstrate how acts of generosity and long-term effects of selflessness will contribute to an active, healthy and sustainable local community,” the group says.
