WANTED: Godwin “Scorcher” Sam.

Police on Wednesday issued a wanted notice for a Sion Hill man in connection with investigations into a series of offences, including burglaries.

The wanted man is 54-year-old labourer Godwin Sam, also known as “Scorcher”.

He is described as dark in complexion, 5 feet 10 inches tall and of stout built.

He has a long face, thick lips, brown eyes and a scar on the right wrist, police said.

Police said that Sam is to be approached with caution, adding that he is believed to be armed, and is considered dangerous.

The statement said that the police are soliciting the assistance of the public in locating Sam.

They say anyone with information about his whereabouts can contact the Officer in charge of Western Division at telephone numbers 458-7239, 456-1810 or 457-1211 or any police station.

The Officer in charge of the CID/CRO/MCU can also be contacted at telephone numbers 456-1810 or 457-1211 ext. 222, 223, 224, 225, 226, 227, or 228.

Calls will be treated in confidence and you can remain anonymous, police said.

Police on Tuesday said that they were in search of Sam to assist with their investigations into a burglary at Triple S Super Market in Layou Saturday night.

They said that the burglary occurred between 8:30 p.m. Saturday and 7:30 a.m. Sunday.

A release from the Police Public Relations Department said an officer on the road leading to the residence of Deputy Prime Minister, Louis Straker in Layou about 3:45 a.m. on Sunday, March 27, saw three masked men and shouted to the men.

“One of the men reportedly put his hand to his side and shots were fired. The men ran and left a vault.

“Niron Morgan was later found on the Layou beach with a gunshot wound to his chest. He was taken to the Milton Cato Memorial Hospital (MCMH).

“The vault was later identified as the one missing from Triple S Supermarket,” the police statement said.
