Smashers, Gairy Construction Simple Boyz, Nice Radio Clinchers, Owia Young Strikers and C.G.M Gallagher Novice all booked their place in the quarter-finals of the 2016 SVG Police Co- operative Credit Union Clinchers T/20 softball tournament as the Big Sixteen phase of the competition bowled off last weekend at the Richland park oval.

Smashers advanced by beating Calder United by 99 after taking first knock. They were led to 144 in 18.4 overs through Junior Ashton who made 30, Glendon James 29 and Glenford Woodley 27. Andrew Jordan took 3/29.  Calder United were dismissed for 45 in 16.5 overs, with Glendon James 2/3, Linton Peters 2/10 and Travis Peters 2/13doing the damage.

In the other match on Saturday, defending champions Gairy Construction Simple Boyz overcame a few anxious moments before sewing up a 15 run win over Bank of SVG Allstars.

Gairy Construction Simple Boyz playing with a man short were dismissed for 60 in 16.5 overs with Elric Morris 20 being the topscore as Brenton Arrindel 3/10 and Ron Adams 3/25 got the most wickets. Bank of SVG Allstars then batted themselves comfortably into a hole through an apparent lack of understanding of what was required.

Stein Joseph took 3/9 and Keneal Skinner 3/12 bowling for Gairy Construction Simple Boyz.

On Sunday Nice Radio Clinchers defeated We Come Back Street Fighters by 6 wickets.

We Come Back Street Fighters got 77 in 16.4 overs with Oheyan Toby taking 4/16 and Carlon John 3/ 19.

Nice Radio Clinchers got to 78/4 in 9.4 overs with Carlon John getting 42.

In another match on Sunday, Owia Young Strikers blew away Gunners by 7 wickets.

Gunners batting first failed to fire and were dismissed for 61 in 19.4 overs to which Owia Young Strikers replied with 64/3 in 8.4 overs with Osnet Cato getting 28.

And former champions, C.G.M Gallagher Novice recorded a two-wicket win over Fullyloaded Ballerz in a very exciting match.

Fullyloaded Ballerz batting first were restricted to 96/8 off their 20 overs with Newborn Joseph leading them all with 2/18.

C.G.M Gallagher Novice responded with 97/8 in 18.3 overs with Renrick Williams getting 47 with six, sixes Sunil Phillips took 3/18 for Fullyloaded Ballerz.
