The accused, Joel “Platinum” Barker, of Penniston.

Police are searching for a Penniston man in connection with their investigation into Wednesday night shooting death in Union Island.

The wanted man has been identified as Joel Gary Barker, also known as “Bodown” and “Platinum”, of Penniston.

Police say the wanted man is a 31-year-old labourer who if of a slim built.

He is 5 feet 9 inches tall, dark in complexion, has a narrow face, brown eyes, thick lips, and tattoos on both hands.

Police say they consider him to armed and dangerous and should be approached with caution.

Police say they are investigating a homicide, which occurred about 8:30 p.m. Wednesday near a bar in Union Island.

Preliminary investigations revealed that Kareem Bowens, 23, received a single gunshot to his chest.

He was taken to the Union Island Hospital where he succumbed to the injury.

A young man from Penniston is currently in police custody assisting the police with their investigation.

A post mortem examination will be conducted on the body.
