A man who holds a licensed firearm was brought before the Serious Offences Court, on Wednesday, charged with threatening to shoot a woman.
Ravenol Ollivierre, 53, of Brighton, pleaded not guilty to a charge that on Tuesday, Feb. 4, at Brighton, being armed with a firearm, he threatened to discharge it at Josette Frank of Sion Hill.
Corporal Athnel Ash told the court that the prosecution had no objection to bail but was asking for sufficient security.
He also asked for a reporting condition and that the court order the accused man to surrender his travel documents and have no contact with the virtual complainant.
Chief Magistrate Rechanne Browne granted Ollivierre EC$7,000 bail with one surety.
She further ordered him to surrender his travel documents and report to the Calliaqua Police Station on Mondays between 6 a.m. and 6 p.m.
The chief magistrate also ordered that stop orders be posted at ports of entry and exit and that Ollivierre must seek the permission the court to leave the state.
His trial is slated for March 26.
How about having him to surrender his firearm until an investigation is done, if there is any validity to the claim then he should no longer have the privilege of legally carrying a firearm.
Should the firearm license be withdrawn or is it early days for that decision?
The prosecutor did not object to bail and asked that the accused surrender his travel documents and have no contact with the victim. Bail was granted with conditions but the man still allow to have his firearm. Very interesting. Yes I know I will hear that even if they confiscate his firearm he can get another but at least this kind of security should have been extended to the victim but to allow this man to still have his firearm will continue to instill fear in the victim. Given recent developments, one would have thought that first and foremost that the firearm be confiscated. I will support that even if you are a licensed firearm holder and you threatened anyone with that firearm that your license be immediately revoked and your firearm confiscated.

Also, disturbing the peace and endangering the lives of others, acting with criminal intent. the cops did a good job here. […] Now surely this is more serious than a woman and her kid caught stealing food. smh.
And does the threat not still exist? For christ’s sake, what does taking away his passport do to mitigate that? Or was he goign to shoot her with his passport? Just asking! Anyway, one action too late. RIP mrs Taylor-isreal.
