The National Lotteries SVG Inc. 2020 First Division Cricket championship, which started with 12 team is now down to five, as defending champions CJ Julius Anthony MSDA Northern Stars, Pollard Investments North Windward Combine and Keegan’s Bequia 11 moved on to the semi final stage with wins last Sunday.

CJ Julius Anthony MSDA Northern Stars edged Smashers by 1 wicket in a nail-biter at the main Arnos Vale Playing Field.

Smashers, who were inserted, got up to 141 for 9 in 31.2 overs.

Ronald Scott 56 and Deptor Culzac 32 led the batting for Smashers.

Shanghi John did most of the damage with the ball for the defending champions, grabbing 6 for 25, while Ronique Laborde picked up 3 for 31.

CJ Jules Anthony MSDA northern stars were comfortably placed at 90 for 3 before losing 5 wickets for 31 runs, but eventually getting over the line, 142 for 9 in 40.1 overs.

Akeel Mason top scored with 35. Darren Russell took 4 for 29 while Kesworth Lewis took 3 for 31 in a losing effort for Smashers.

At Arnos Vale Two, Keegan’s Bequia 11 stopped the French Verndah SVGCC by 49 runs.

The big hitting of Keegan’s Bequia 11 was halted at 130 all out batting first from 29.1 overs.

Orlando Lavia made 31 and Loraine Ollivierre added 28. Roxell John 3 for 16, Jerdon Jacobs 3 for 36 and Tilron Harry 3 for 38 picked up wickets for the College unit, who fell into tremendous difficulty during their batting innings at 52 for 6, from which they never recovered, dismissed for 81 in 20 .5 overs.

Jenry Ollivierre grabbed 5 for 11 and Orlando Lavia 4 for 26 to secure the win for the gents from the Island of Clouds.

And at Sion Hill, Police One had the better of Pollard Investments North Windward Combine by 26 runs. Police one totalled 215 all out in 45.5 overs. Gosnel Cupid’s 61 and 40 not out by Winston Samuel led the lawmen’s batting.

Deswayne Williams 3 for 24 and Kerwin Williams 3 for 49 took wickets for Pollard Investments North Windward Combine, who fell short a 184 for 9 when their innings closed after 27.4 overs.

Elmore Alexander 5 for 55 and Gerald Gould 3 for 61 did the damage for the lawmen.

The fourth quarter final between Vee Jay’s Rooftop and Bar North Windward and Corea’s Distribution Belfongo, was not played, and will be rescheduled.
