A 24-year-old woman is now the youngest person in St. Vincent and the Grenadines to die of COVID-19.
The National Emergency Management Organisation (NEMO) said, on Tuesday, that the woman died at home on Saturday.
She was found to be COVID-19 positive following post-mortem PCR testing on Monday, NEMO said, adding that the woman was unvaccinated.
Her death brings the death toll from COVID-19 to 64.
Meanwhile, NEMO announced, on Tuesday, that the country has recorded 45 new COVID-19 positive cases from 301samples collected on Monday, resulting in a positivity of 14.9%.
There were 55 new rapid antigen positive results reported from flu clinics on Monday.
NEMO said that there are nine patients admitted for COVID-19 at the Argyle Isolation Facility. All are unvaccinated.
Twenty patients are admitted to the COVID-19 wards at the Milton Cato Memorial Hospital. Sixteen patients are unvaccinated, two are partially vaccinated and two (2) patients are fully vaccinated
There were 37 new recoveries over the reporting period, leaving 1,781 cases active.
Since March 2020, SVG has recorded 4,905 cases of COVID-19, of which 3,060 have recovered.
NEMO said:
“In view of the confirmed presence of the Delta, Mu and Gamma variants in the community and the significant increase in the number of new infections, transmission, severe COVID-19 disease and deaths, strict enforcement and compliance with all protocols and recommendations by everyone is strongly recommended. The correct and consistent use of masks, avoidance of crowds, physical distancing, proper hand sanitizing and immunization with available vaccines have all been proven to significantly reduce the risk of being infected, getting sick and or dying from the COVID-19 virus.”

I do not trust any information put out by the government in SVG because it is so very opposite from information from other countries. When I read the news in SVG it is as if everyone is sick and dying from Covid-19, of course, in spite of wearing masks. Even though ALL STUDIES have proven over and over again that masks do NOTHING to protect the wearer from Covid-19. WE ARE ORDERED TO BE GOOD LITTLE SHEEP AND DO SOMETHING SCIENCE HAS PROVEN TO BE USELESS.
IN VIRTUALLY EVERY COUNTRY ON EARTH, EXCEPT SVG, very few people wear masks so much as Vincentians. As I watch videos on Youtube made in the last week, far less than 1% of the people in those videos, in NY, Boston, London, Paris, all Africa, Madrid almost no one wears masks. In SVG that is the opposite and yet, the news makes us believe that Covid-19 is running wild here! I question why SVG insists on making us feel stupid by instituting FAKE SCIENCE.
Because people under 25 actually NEVER die from the virus, I wonder what the real cause of death was. In this article I may have missed it but did this person have any other health issues as is the case with all Covid-19 deaths?

Covid19 is mekking all the moves while the MOH and the CMO don’t know what to do. lately they only contradicting each other. They should call the novel corona virus in SVG covid21 instead of delta, gamma sigma, beta or omega. Alyo real pretty.
I offer my condolences to her family, friends, neighbours and other acquaintances. It is heart-wrenching to lose one so young, especially when the death could so easily have been prevented. May she rest in peace.

Kirk, you seem to be a ULP operative writing to make people think you are an experienced tourist. There are more masks and social distancing in SVG than 99% of the countries on earth. There are even countries that have far less people getting vaccinated. There are conversely countries that have higher rates of vaccination, THESE ARE THE SICKEST COUNTRIES ON EARTH! Tell us the truth, who you really are.
We all see that the government has employed their propaganda people to comment on this site to humiliate those who choose not to get vaccinated. Vaccination numbers are the goal in order to get Global Bank Loans. Health is no concern to you people.

That 24 year old woman most likely is among the unvaccinated who choose death over life and she has that choice. In other words her chickens(ignorance) have certainly come home to roost and is now sitting in the mortuary. The wise thing to do is to get vaccinated and get the best chance of survival.
6 million people world wide died from Covid, and the ignorance of some Vincentians is astonishing , they chose death over life, unbelievable stupidity.
