A Basin Hole, Georgetown man was still in hospital, on Tuesday, after he was allegedly injured by his would-be victim, who disarmed him of a firearm and chopped him several times.

Reports are that the would-be victim was on his way home from his farm when he was attacked around 9 p.m. Monday in the east coast town.

A tussle ensued between both men, resulting in the firearm discharging and the attacker being shot in the hand, sources tell iWitness News.

The assailant also sustained chop wounds to his head, back and shoulders.

The police met both men at the scene when they responded and one of them handed over a pistol, which he claimed to have wrested from the other.

The injured man was transported to the Georgetown Hospital for medical attention and the other was taken into custody as part of the police investigation.
