Too many young Vincentians take the first flight out of their country because the Unity Labour Party (ULP) administration refuses to offer hope.
Opposition Senator Israel Bruce further told the New Democratic Party’s (NDP) “Hope Rally” in Georgetown, on Saturday, that to him, hope means “helping others to position themselves eventually”.
“The young people of St. Vincent and the Grenadines, my friends, have, for too long, been experiencing action-less wording on the part of the government of St. Vincent and Grenadines. They talk, talk but they do not act, act, act in the interest of our young people,” Bruce said.
“Too many young people in this country take the first flight out, whether to Tortola, to the British Army or the US Army because the ULP refused to offer hope.”
Bruce said:
“… hope is coming… A New Democratic Party will offer, will bring a bright future and hope to the people of St. Vincent and Grenadines, especially our young people. NDP, under Dr. Friday, and the rest of the team, my friends, will create jobs for the young people of this country.”
He said an NDP administration will invest significantly in the skill training of young people.
“We will ensure that the economic environment is created for our young people to thrive. We will ensure that there is a particular focus on information technology and ICT. We will ensure that we put serious resources into a development to finance your projects and your ideas that you can take your wings and fly,” Bruce said.
He said an NDP administration will ensure that civil servants who were dismissed under the ULP’s COVID-19 vaccine mandate return to work.
“Dr Friday and his team, we understand the cries of the young people in this country,” Bruce said, referring to party leader, Godwin Friday.
“And we are listening to the cries of the young people in this country. We are prepared to position a government that will respond to the needs of the young people in this country,” he said.
“I promise you, the young people of St. Vincent and the Grenadines that an NDP government will work night and day on your behalf; night and day on your behalf. We in the New Democratic Party, we will simply ensure that we are your allies. But not only your allies, we will be your advocates and your agents for proper change.
“We will use the Parliament of St. Vincent, we will use forums in the Caribbean and the rest of the world to make sure that the young people of blessed Hairouna are positioned when the New Democratic Party takes office, young people you will have a significant stake at the table.”
Promise is comfort to a fool!!
