A Richland Park man has been charged with stealing electricity from a VINLEC pole.

Hancell Francis, a 53-year-old mason, of Richland Park, appeared before the Kingstown Magistrate’s Court on Monday, charged that on Friday, Jan. 26, about 1;20 p.m., at Richland Park, without lawful authority, he dishonesty diverted electricity from a St. Vincent Electricity Services (VINLEC) utility pole powerlines to his house.

He pleaded not guilty to the charge.

Senior Magistrate Colin John granted bail in the sum of EC$1,000 with one surety.

The matter was adjourned and transferred to the Calliaqua Magistrate Court for trial on Feb. 2.

  1. This happens in Jamaica and now happening here. We are mimicking them even their high crime rate. St Vincent according to some recently published statistics has one of the highest crime rate in the Caribbean and the world. What a country.
