A 64-year-old Richland Park man has been charged with attempted murder in connection with the chopping incident in the agricultural district that left another man nursing severe chop wounds about his body.

Raheim Hector appeared before the Kingstown Magistrate’s Court on Tuesday, where Senior Magistrate Tammika Da Silva-McKenzie read him the indictable charge.

Hector was not required to plead to the charge that on May 25, at Richland Park, with intent to murder Andre Gaymes he did an act which was more than merely preparatory to the commission of the offence.

He was not allowed to plead to the indictable charge.

Prosecutor Corporal of Police 817 Stapleton objected to bail, telling the court that the virtual complainant was still hospitalised and medical staff was unsure when he might be discharged.
