The Insurance Association of SVG Inc. and the Traffic Department of the Royal St. Vincent and the Grenadines Police Force are collaborating on a new road safety initiative aimed at reducing vehicular accidents and fatalities.
This project, which will conclude with the erection of traffic signs across key areas, is a testament to the commitment of both entities to the safety and well-being of the Vincentian public, a press release said.
In 2023, the executive of the Insurance Association identified the high rate of vehicular accidents as a critical issue.
This led to a collaborative effort with the Traffic Department to enhance road safety through the installation of traffic signs designed to warn, deter, and reduce reckless driving.
“The project, which took 10 months from conceptualization to execution, involved meticulous planning and coordination with the Traffic Department, traffic sign providers, and the association members,” the press release said.
The signs, which will be erected from Calliaqua to the Nelson Mandela Highway, are crucial tools for ensuring the safety of all road users,” the release said.
We need move then road sign, the public transportation system. Let us start with re-education of the bus drivers, who think speeding is driving and while someone is crossing a pedestrian crossing it is ok to drive pass. Let us fine people for Jay walking, illegal parking, parking meters, restricted parking and improvement to the road network, potholes galore.
Is that Ces who I went to school with? Time really changes everything.
