Police have released the 15-year-old boy who was in custody in connection with the chopping of a retired educator in Sandy Bay on Sunday.
Investigators are continuing their attempted murder probe after Keith Baptiste, a 69-year-old farmer, of London, Sandy Bay was attacked by an intruder at his home and sustained multiple injuries.
Baptiste was left in the Intensive Care Unit of the Milton Cato Memorial Hospital nursing a severe chop wound to the left cheek as well as chops to his hands.
“The police are actively investigating this matter and urge anyone with information that may assist in the investigation to come forward. All information will be treated with the strictest confidence,” police said in a statement on Tuesday.

Initial reports had suggested that the attack was a robbery.
Reports indicated that the attack might have been motivated by someone wanting to rob Baptiste of money he had earned from the alleged sale of animals recently.
However, iWitness News was reliably informed that a sum of money was recovered from Baptiste’s home after the attack, thereby throwing the robbery theory in doubt.
iWitness News was also reliably informed that Baptiste might have been sleeping when the attack began and the assailant might have fled after his screams alerted at least one other occupant of the house.
Well-placed sources have told iWitness News that the teen had been identified as a suspect because he and Baptiste had had several clashes in the past.
However, police ruled him out as a suspect as the investigation continued.
