Taiwan’s Foreign Minister, Lin Chai-Lung will visit St. Vincent and the Grenadines from today (Saturday) to Monday.
Taiwan President Lai Ching-te has appointed Lin as a special envoy to represent Taipei at celebrations to mark SVG’s 45th anniversary, with the main event being the military parade on Independence Day, Sunday.
While in SVG, Lin is expected to meet with Governor-General Dame Susan Dougan and Prime Minister Ralph Gonsalves, to exchange opinions on areas of mutual concern and the direction of future cooperation, the ministry said.
He is slated to arrive at Argyle International Airport at 2 p.m. Saturday, after which he will travel to Arnos Vale for the ground-breaking ceremony for the construction of the Acute Care Hospital at 4 p.m.
Taiwan has lent SVG US$125 million to build the hospital, which is being constructed by Taiwanese firm, Overseas Engineering and Construction Company.
On Sunday, Lin and his delegation will visit the Taiwan Technical Missions at Orange Hill and Rabacca.
Lin’s visit is part of a wider visit to Taiwan’s diplomatic allies in Latin America and the Caribbean, his first since taking office in May.
Lin is also scheduled to visit Guatemala, St. Lucia, Belize and St. Kitts and Nevis, where he is scheduled to hold bilateral talks with leaders and high officials.
Taiwan’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs said that during the tour, Lin will promote a plan aimed at strengthening ties with “solid partners” to help make them become “prosperous partners”, leading to enhanced mutual prosperity.
What we want is to see is unemployment go drastically down. What we want is most or our workforce working. What we want is roads all over the country fixed. What we want is Kingstown streets repaved and traffic light to help with traffic. What we want is heavy Judicial reforms. What we want are our beaches fixed fit for tourist. What we want is Police doing their work and bringing crime drastically down. What we is to see our people start to prosper.
