Rain-affected matches were the order of day four of the 2024 SVG International Masters T20 Cricket Festival on Thursday.
At the Park Hill Playing Field, All Pro Masters, defending Festival Division champions recorded their third consecutive victory, upstaging New York Masters by 9 wickets, in one of the rain-interrupted encounters.
New York Masters managed 63 all out in 15 overs. Micheal Mofford 3 for 1 from 1 over, Arvind Kumar 3 for 16 and Depak Kumar 3 for 17 curtailed the New York Masters’ progress.
In reply, All Pro Masters had made positive strides; reaching 49 for 1 in 5 overs, with Alvarado Bryce scoring 25 and Randy Ramana 20 not out before no further play was possible.
Also in the Festival Division, North Leeward Masters took down Mustique Company Masters by 5 wickets via the Duckworth Lewis method at the Sion Hill Playing Field. Mustique Company Masters scored 131 for 7 in 18.1 overs when the rains brought an end to their innings.
Nicholas Baptiste 31 and Roger Gibson 23 were their principal scores. There were 2 wickets apiece for Clemore Millington 2 for 15, Dale Michael 2 for 24 and Leroy Spring 2 for 36.
North Leeward Masters were then 70 for 6 in replay when the heavens opened again, bringing an end to the match. Clemore Millington has scored 21. Drumo Toney picked up 3 for 6 from 9 deliveries bowling for Mustique Company Masters.
In the Fete Division, defending champions Munro Road Masters met with a stumbling block when they were halted in their tracks by AMAAS Sporting Services Barbados Masters, beaten by 8 wickets at Sion Hill.
Munro Road Masters recovered from 29 for 5 to score 92 for 7 in their 20 overs. Rajnarine Ragoonath top scored with 29 not out. Anthony Morris 2 for 11 and William Lashloy 2 for 14 ripped apart the top order of the Munro Road Masters batting.
AMAAS Sporting Services Barbados Masters achieved their target, 93 for 2 in 17 overs, due to a 68-run second wicket partnership between Michael Asgard who scored 39 and Owen Birch who was left not out on 29.
Also in the Fete Division, Sarasota International Cricket Club Masters had the better of Nas Masters by 6 wickets at Park Hill. Reduced to a 12-overs-per-innings affair, Nas Masters got up to 82 for 4 batting first. Jason De Freitas led the batting with 37 while Reynold Rampersad added 24.
Alston Sagar Bacchus picked up 2 for 21 bowling for Sarasota International Cricket Club Masters who replied with 83 for 4 in 10.3 overs. Powering Sarasota International Cricket Club Masters to victory was Terrence Romain who was unbeaten on an even 50 when the target was overhauled.
Completing the Fete Division matches for day four, Trinbago Leatherbacks Masters defeated the Prime Minister’s XI by 37 runs on the Duckworth-Lewis Stern-Method at Cumberland. Trinbago Leatherbacks Masters totalled 124 for 6 in their 20 overs. David Roopnarine 36 and Clyde Mofford 27 were the principal scorers for Trinbago Leatherbacks.
Colin Shoy 2 for 12 and Noel Samuel 2 for 23 got among the wickets for the Prime Minister’s XI who were 35 for 5 in 11 overs when rain stopped play. Derry Ramjattan had picked up 2 for 8 in 3 overs for Trinbago Leatherbacks Masters.
Today (Friday), day five of the 2024 SVG International Masters T20 Cricket Festival, the last preliminary matches in both divisions will be played.
In the Festival Division, North East Masters battle Mustique Company Masters at Park Hill from 10 a.m. SVG Police Masters meet Canada Masters also at Park Hill but from 2 p.m. in an all-important matchup, which can go a long way in determining who plays the Festival Division Final on Saturday. Then from 2 p.m., All Pro Masters would look to secure their place in the Festival Final when they take on North Leeward Masters at Cumberland.
In the Fete Division, AMAAS Sporting Services Barbados Masters will come up against Prime Minister’s XL at the Sion Hill Playing Field from 10 a.m. The last two matches in the Fete Division on Friday will be played at the Stubbs Playing Field. Canadian Legends 50 Plus Masters lock horns with Trinbago Leatherbacks Masters from 10 a.m. then at 2 p.m. Vee Jays North Windward Masters will challenge the Windies Masters.
