Forecasters in St. Vincent and the Grenadines have issued a flash-flood warning as parts of the country continue to be impacted by heavy rains.
The St. Vincent and the Grenadines Meteorological Services said the warning will remain in effect until noon on Monday.
A flash-flood watch was issued earlier in the day, but this was upgraded to a warning as a trough system continues to affect the country.
In a bulletin at 7 p.m. on Sunday, forecaster Desiree Neverson-Jack said the country could expect pockets of moderate to heavy showers with gusty conditions across the islands throughout the night.
The chance of isolated thunderstorms increases as the night progresses, with the instability forecast to continue during Monday morning.
Model guidance indicated rainfall amounts of 50mm (approximately 2 inches) with isolated higher amounts in mountainous areas possible during the next 18 hours.
“Residents and motorists in areas prone to flooding and landslides or near rivers and streams should be prepared,” the Met Services said.
A flood-warning is issued when flooding is imminent or is already occurring.
