The Sports Department has recently found itself in the spotlight for all the wrong reasons. The department — already grappling with a series of internal challenges — held a crucial meeting earlier this week aimed at addressing ongoing issues and improving its overall operations.

However, what was expected to be a productive and solution-driven session quickly took a dramatic turn when tensions erupted between two senior leaders. The meeting ended in a heated verbal exchange between the officials, right in front of other department members.

The confrontation left several staff members shocked and disappointed, especially given the professional setting and the importance of the meeting’s agenda.

This latest incident comes at a time when the department is facing increasing scrutiny over management inefficiencies, poor coordination, and a noticeable decline in confidence among athletes and sporting organisations.

In the aftermath, several members have voiced frustration and called for renewed leadership, mutual respect, and stronger teamwork within the department. Many are also urging urgent mediation and structural reform to rebuild unity and public trust.

We can’t fix sports if the people leading it can’t work together. The focus needs to be on progress, not personal disagreements.

The fallout from the meeting has since prompted calls for an official statement or intervention from higher authorities. The wider sporting community now waits to see how the department intends to move forward and restore confidence in its leadership and vision.

  1. Really. What was the disagrement about? Who were the two scalawags? Did someone mentioned something about their mother or who is their father?
C’mon give the readers some real information. Are you really a concerned Sports Administrator or part of the problem?
We can’t fix sports if the people leading it are incompetent.

  2. This will continue to occur across the public service when accountability is a transfer across government
