This 2025 election is not ordinary. It is historic, and it is exposing exactly who has been eating well in this country — and who has been left to survive on dry scraps.

For 25 years, too many Vincentians have lived like they’re under captivity: barely making ends meet, migrating in record numbers, and watching opportunity flow in one direction like water irrigating one part of the pasture.

And of course, there is a select group who will swear the country is prospering. Well, of course they would — they’re grazing on the green pastures, watered exclusively for them. Their craws are full, their pockets are padded, and their lifestyles are comfortable. They are so obese, their bellies are fattened and they can’t see the dry, parched grass around them or the hollow faces, sunken sad eyes of the struggling majority.

Those who have grown comfortable within this system now fear losing the privileges they have accumulated: multiple jobs, appointments to statutory boards, real estate advantages owning several properties stacking up like trophies, businesses, and exclusively hand-picked opportunities, while the majority suffer in silence, subjected to the scraps tossed at them.

The prospect of change threatens a lifestyle they have enjoyed for decades, and in their desperation, they are prepared to take extreme measures to preserve it.

Now, change is coming.

And suddenly, the grass on their side is looking a little less green.

When that pasture dries up, they know their oversized share of the feast will be cut down. And this is where danger rises, because desperate, privileged people will do anything — crawl into the gutter, step out of character, lie, slander, intimidate, and if allowed, spill blood — to keep power for themselves and their master.

But the spell is breaking. The gauze has been ripped off. Vincentians are waking up. We are no longer blinded by propaganda, fear, or crumbs. We are thinking about each other — not just ourselves.

On election day 2025, we will finally see who stands to lose.

It is not the single mother stretching a dollar.

It is not the young graduate searching for an opportunity.

It is not the farmer, the vendor, the teacher, the nurse.

It is the fattened cows on the green pasture — the ones who don’t want to share the field.

So, keep your trough, Mr. Massa.

For too long you have belittled us, you are fearful in your own words, “ they will be lining up at the trough”. Yes! That’s how you see us, as pigs only worthy of collecting the scraps you throw out for us seasonally at the trough.

We are done grovelling for scraps.

We are sitting at the table the Lord will prepare right in front of you, and you will watch the people of this country rise, eat well, prosper, and be satisfied.

You have ordered your warriors to take the streets on Election Day, to deal with those from the other side (mind you, we won’t be the sore losers) but remember — the battle is the Lord’s. We know we are not fighting flesh and blood, but principalities and powers in high places.

So again, let the question ring across this nation:

Who, exactly, stands to lose?

Because it will not be the people.
