A Diamond man has been charged with murder over the stabbing death of his nephew, reportedly during an argument about what to cook.
Emmanuel Matthews, 59, is charged that on Monday, Dec. 29, 2025, he murdered Brandon Child, of Villa.
He appeared before the Serious Offences Court on Wednesday — Old Year’s Day — where Chief Magistrate Colin John read the indictable charge to him.
Matthews was not allowed to plead to the charge at that point and John informed him that bail was not open to him at that stage.
Matthews was remanded in custody until Feb. 2, 2026, for his next hearing.
The magistrate told the lead investigator, Detective Constable 227 Jemmy Arthur, to be as ready as possible on that date.
iWitness News was reliably informed that Child died after being stabbed during an argument over whether to cook rice or “sauce food”.

Stab whether to Cook Rice or Sauce Food and he was remanded in Custody but my Brother’s Killer placed on Bail….Because it is alleged that she was defending herself….
