The Ottley Hall man charged with kidnapping, robbery, and possession of an unlicensed firearm over the alleged abduction of two people in Arnos Vale Sunday night has been remanded to prison to await a bail review on Jan. 8, 2026.
Kyle Providence appeared before the Serious Offences Court on Wednesday — Old Year’s Day – but was not allowed to plead to the indictable charges.
The prosecutor, Sergeant of Police Shamrock Pierre, objected to bail, telling the court that the charges are serious, and the investigation was still in its infancy.
Pierre told the court that there was still a person of interest and a firearm at large.
He said that the investigator, Detective Constable 457 Kemelia Boyd of the Criminal Investigations Department, had identified about six witnesses and was recording their statements.
Pierre asked the court to remand Providence to prison and allow the police to continue their investigation.
He asked that the accused man be denied bail for two weeks in the first instance, after which the prosecution would update the court on the progress.
However, Providence, who did not have a lawyer, told the court that he thought two weeks was “a little bit long”.
He noted his right to obtain a lawyer, adding that he could not do so from prison, nor could he obtain the funds for a lawyer while in prison.
“In the same way that the police want to be well prepared, I want to be well prepared,” Providence told the court.
After hearing the arguments, Chief Magistrate Colin John remanded Providence in custody until Jan. 8, 2026.
Providence was charged that on Dec. 28, 2025, at Arnos Vale:
· he stole and carried away Jolisha Tash, of Edinboro/England, without her consent or any other legal authority;
· he stole and carried away Omari Millington, of Edinboro, without his consent or any other legal authority.
He was also charged that on the same date, in St. Vincent and the Grenadines:
· being armed with a gun, he stole one gold iPhone 16 Pro-max valued at 2,000 British pounds, the property of Jolisha Tash, of Edinboro/England, and at the time of so doing and in order to do so, put the said Jolisha Tash in fear of being then and there subjected to force;
· he had in his possession a firearm, make and serial number unknown, without a license issued under the Firearms Act.
Tash, 31, and Millington, 17, were the two people that police referred to in a press statement on Tuesday.
The statement said that police received reports on Monday of a kidnapping involving two individuals.
“At approximately 1:30 a.m. on December 29, 2025, two unknown masked men allegedly took a 31-year-old female and a 17-year-old minor, both from Edinboro, from Arnos Vale to Belair without their consent or any lawful authority. It is further reported that the minor was wounded during the incident,” police said in the statement.
The statement said that the police identified and approached a motor vehicle suspected of being involved, parked along the Belair Public Road.
“During the police approach, the occupants fired shots in the direction of the officers. One individual subsequently exited the vehicle holding what appeared to be a rifle and fled on foot.”
The statement said that three other people then exited the vehicle.
Police said they had apprehended a suspect while another remained at large.
Police had issued a wanted person bulletin for Jamal McMaster in connection with the alleged kidnapping.
McMaster, accompanied by his lawyer, Ronnie Marks, surrendered himself to police on Wednesday.
